It being Tuesday, I spent the morning up at Haleakala Church with bro Jovi and Kahu Jimmy, clearing the churchyard of its tall elephant grass and weeds, the thorny raspberry bushes. I saw this Jackson’s chameleon on a plumeria tree and picked it up for a while. Took video of it—click on any of the images below to see the clip (4’08″, 11.6 Mb)—before returning it to its perch.

Last Friday, I was stunned when an old friend walked in the office around midmorning… Abigail! I hadn’t expected her to be around at all this summer, knowing she, Matthias and Leona were in the process of moving from Strasbourg, FR to Austin, TX. Turns out her family was stopping over the Bay Area for a couple of weeks before proceeding to Texas. Leona has grown quite a bit since her first visit here late last year…

Last Saturday afternoon, the Scalices dropped by Tolman Hall around 2 p.m. and rescued me from an afternoon of humdrum Yearbook work and courseprep, and we drove to the S.F. Zoo. These were taken at the new Madagascar lemur exhibit. The animals were fascinating to watch as they played, jumping around the trees in their expansive habitat, hooting and barking wildly at around closing time (perhaps they were happy the humans were finally going home? ::chuckle::)

The calabash aunts and uncles in the above pix are Carrie, Casey and me.

Last night, Blanche and Pepe dusted off their old wedding video, taken 9 years ago, in late 1995 and unseen by them for many years now. It was charming to see 19-year old Pepe nad 21-year old Blanche at their wedding in Manila, though the former didn’t seem like the man I know now. ::chuckle:: (He admitted later that at the wedding he was quite nervous and not quite himself.) Blanche seemd quite herself, and radiant, as all brides are.

This Sunday morning after church, Elizabeth asked me to take her picture again, and here are the results (with brother Christian in the portrait as well)…
